Our Mission
Our mission at Climate Education for Illinois is to ensure that all Illinois students (K-12) receive equity focused climate education in a way that empowers them to take action, adapt, mitigate their environmental impact and prepare for 21st century jobs.
Our Goal
Our goal was to pass a Climate Education bill by 2025... and we achieved that with HB4895.
Now our focus is on empowering educators in IL to teach about climate change. Key principles:
- using materials created by educators and vetted by scientists that are solutions-based and emphasize climate justice
- integrating climate change education into existing curriculum and aligned with IL standards
- incorporating place-based learning, with IL relevant examples
- preparing students for jobs created by CEJA
